French Toast at Home
Growing up, I never had French toast. My family was a pancake family. I even have memories of when my mom would make us pancakes and a big breakfast on school exam days. But whenever I would go brunching I would try French toast. It slowly spiraled to something I always try from restaurants.

I then came across a video of someone making French toast and came to find how easy and simple it is to make. I knew I had to try making some on my own.
I usually venture to Food52 for recipes and found their top French toast recipe by Kayb. I mainly went with this recipe because it’s SIMPLE and doesn’t use cinnamon or powdered sugar. I prefer fruit to sweeten anything up. But what makes this recipe great according to Kayb is the quality of the bread and cream. Luckily I was able to find Challah at Whole Foods, instead of making my own.
As my first time making French toast at home and comparing it to the quality from restaurants, this recipe didn’t disappoint. And made my kitchen smell heavenly. It’s the perfect beginner recipe that yields high-end results. You can even watch my Tiktok video here, to see for yourself. I also can’t wait to play around with the recipe and see if different loaves of bread make any difference.
If you try the recipe, please let me know. I would love to know what you think!
